The Shrine of the Fiery Champion traditionally marks both the birthplace of the Korrigan known by that title as well as the place where he left the mortal world behind. Lying in a clearing in the Scarlet Groves, the shrine is one of nine major places of worship for the followers of Neuel-ethin Orie.
The center of the shrine is a stone dolmen standing 15 feet high composed of a red sandstone not found in Wendar. An eternal flame is tended by the shrine’s Keeper and her assistants. Every day at dusk the names of those who gave their lives defending the Gennaleth are read. The clerics dwell nearby where they run a college of arms in the traditional elven weapons.
Birth Into Battle: According to legend, the mother of the elf who was to become the Fiery Champion was a powerful Sword Saint in her own right. While heavily pregnant, she found herself beset by human barbarians eager to slice open the mother-to-be whose taunts ignited a horrific rage within their breasts. While valiant, sheer numbers eventually beat her down and a barbarian blade smote her open. Leaping from her womb full grown, Fiery Champion, sprang forward grabbing the blade that killed his mother from the shocked fingers of the killer. He then smote them all, his fury so hot that the sword blade glowed a dull red. Afterwards, he buried his mother at this spot raising a menhir to mark the site of her passing.
